1.“No suh scared Id hafta face up to what I didn’t do” pg 198
This is an example of injustice that Tom Robinson is scared he would have to face the consequences of something he did not do and would be blamed for.
2.“Tom was a dead man the minute Mayella Ewell opened her mouth and screamed” Pg 241
This quote is another example of injustice that no matter what truly happened, Mayella Ewell’s word was the only thing that mattered and this was a death sentence for Tom Robinson.
3.“Yes suh I felt right sorry for her she seemed to try more’n the rest of em” pg 197
This is quote is another case of injustice that Tom Robinson is being accused of a crime he did not commit when all he was trying to do was help a women that was in need of help.
4.“Im not a very good man, sir, but I am sheriff of Maycomb County. Lived in this town all my life an I’m going on forty -three years old. Know everything that’s happened here since before I was born. There’s a black boy dead for no reason and the man responsible for its dead. Let the dead bury the dead, this time Mr. Finch let the dead bury the dead.” Pg 276
After the death of Bob Ewell and Tom Robinson, Atticus and Mr. Tate are talking about what to do and they both say that Bob Ewells death was his own fault and I think this may be as close as anyone in To Kill A Mocking Bird has gotten to justice.
5. “Judge Taylor was polling the jury: “Guilty…guilty..guilty…guilty…”” pg 211
This is one of the greatest injustices in the novel, the fact that Tom Robinson was convicted for a crime he most likely did not commit even after all the evidence was in his favor.
