Chapter 1
Scout Finch is the narrator of the story. She started telling the story when she remembered what happened when she was 6 and his elder brother, Jem, was 10 years-old. One day, they met Dill who was Ms. Rachel’s (a neighbor) nephew. He was a small, white, seven years old kid. The first thing he said was that he knew how to read. They were good friends, and played together the entire summer. One day, they were bored and did not have more things to do. As a result, they tried to get Arthur Radley, Boo Radley, out of his house just to see if he was alive because they had heard a lot of stories about him.
One of those stories was: Teen Radley was part of a group with some Cunninghams. One day the sheriff caught them and carried them in front of the court. The punishment was to go to the Industrial school. But his father, Mr. Radley, did not want this for any of his kids, so he promised keeping Arthur out of problems. Boo stayed for a while in the basement of the courthouse. Then, his father took him and locket him in the basement of their house. People did not know about him any more in 15 years.
Mr Radley died, but his elder son came to replace him. They thought that finnally Boo was going to go out, but the story was the same.
Jem described Boo Radley to Dill. Then, Dill dared Jem to go further than the yard of that house. 3 day later, Jem accepted. Jem entered to the yard of the house, touched it and ran out of the place. When they were in the porch, the old house was equal.
